Expert: Why ‘funny’ isn’t enough for ads

 
Post Super Bowl, people talk as much about the advertising as the game, and this year was no exception. If there was a theme to the advertising this year it was about doing more than funny with ads. Biz Report’s Kristin Knight reached out to Doug Randall, CEO and Founder of Protagonist, and a recognized thought leader on Narrative Analytics, scenario planning, managing uncertainty, and intelligence analysis reform.

 

“In this stage as a nation,” Randall explains, “we’ve passed the era where funniness is enough. A cute kid or a celebrity isn’t sufficient to drive real customer loyalty when it comes to ads. If companies want to resonate with today’s audiences, they need to take a stronger stand and tap into deeper narratives.”
